ZACTS: Zambia Agricultural and Crafts and Theological StudiesEquipping young leadersProject Summary:Since 1987 International Needs has provided a unique combination of vocational and spiritual training to young men and women who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend school. ZACTS (Zambia Agricultural and Crafts and Theological Studies) offers young people education and vocational skills training in agriculture, crafts skills such as home making and catering, hotel management and carpentry. But more than this, the school provides each student with theological and discipleship training, helping them reach out to the orphans and widows in their community and show God's love to communities devastated by poverty and disease. Many students graduating from ZACTS are offered good careers. They use their knowledge of the Bible and spiritual insight to help lead local churches, building a stronger Church in Zambia. You can choose to provide a scholarship for a student or contribute a gift to help expand the school, offering this educational opportunity to even more students.
Project Goal
Project Details:When a young man or woman completes their primary and secondary education they need to learn an income-generating skill. ZACTS provides training in agriculture, carpentry and hotel management while training young people in the Scriptures. Each young person is mentored to become a strong influence in their community, helping to lead the next generation into a strong commitment to Jesus Christ and a lifestyle of purity and discipline. You can provide a young person with meaningful alternatives by giving a scholarship to a student in Zambia. You gift helps a student prepare for their future with hope and purpose, providing them with housing, food relief, school supplies and sound Biblical teaching. After graduation, students will also receive a personal "kit" which will provide them with essential trade tools needed to make a living – a hammer, chisel set and saw for carpentry, an apron, set of knives and mixing bowls for catering students and a shovel, hoe, rake and watering can for agricultural students. As more and more partners come alongside our educational programs in Zambia, we hope to one day expand our library services, offer computer literacy training, provide a new carpentry workshop and improve the transportation options for students travelling far distances.
Misaka Orphan CareGiving a future of hope to vulnerable childrenProject Summary:Misaka is a small HIV/AIDS community on the outskirts of Ndola, the second largest city in Zambia. The families living here are a motley group of disenfranchised people. Infected and affected by HIV, most have little choice but to struggle day to day, hoping for enough food.
Project Goal
Project Details:Our goal is to have 200 children sponsored in Misaka. The monthly support of sponsors will help take care of each child's personal needs: food, education and health care. Pastor Bernard and his wife Medica saw the devastation HIV/AIDS was having on the families in their community. And they listened to the call of God on their lives. The most effective response is led by community-based volunteers, but without our support the volunteers have nothing to offer the families in the community. "We are asking for someone to stand with these children, to make a difference in their life." Pastor Bernard But there are so many other opportunities for you to share your love with the community. Each volunteer sacrifices much of their day to walk alongside men, women and children who are suffering. The gifts you give beyond sponsorship provide medicines and ointments to care for those who are infected with HIV. They also provide a small stipend for the care givers, offering them a meal to help them overcome their own need.
FamCareTransforming marriages in Jesus nameProject Summary:With 1.1 million Zambians living with the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS, essential health care and support is needed before development of this nation can begin. Sadly, 95,000 children are fighting to overcome the deadly disease that has claimed the life of one or both of their parents.
Thomas Lumba is a man of God. For many years he preached condemnation against those who were infected with HIV. And then a friend of his daughter's was gang raped. This vibrant young Christian woman was infected by HIV and died within a very short time. Today Rev. Lumba is inspired by the love of God and the grace He gives. Rev. Lumba is a key leader within Zambia, equipping Christian leaders to impact change. His message is straight out of Scripture. He repeats Christ's words spoken to the woman caught in adultery: "Change your ways. Walk in the way of your God. Go.... and sin no more." Today he teaches that the church needs to extend the same forgiving hand that Jesus extended. His interview speaks for itself...
Project Goal
Project Details:Families living in Zambia are desperate for hope. We have the incredible opportunity to partner with Rev. Lumba as he leads his team of social workers and pastors, spreading hope and joy to communities of need in Zambia. When a husband and wife are trained to respect each other and live in sexual purity, the family unit is strengthened. When a young mother is given the medicine she needs to cope with the devastating effects of the HIV virus, her children are able to be cared for and nurtured. When children and young people are taught to walk in the ways of the Lord, the future hope of an entire nation is set in place. Your gift to FamCare provides the funding to:
